The ILEC owns the copper, so yes you have to pay them to use their copper.<br><br>You have to co-locate DSLAM's in each CO you want to service out of. <description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/633982"><b>alien9999999</b></A> : let's face it, there is no good ISP that I can use.<br><br>So, what do I really need to become an ADSL2 ISP (with controle over my own service)?<br><br>I mean, i can't be that hard, right?<br><br>- a rack<br>- dual power failover<br>- a good switch<br>- a couple of firewall/routers with BGP software on it<br>- a couple of pppd machines<br>- a public subnet with AS number<br>- at least 2 reachable gateways willing to BGP route my subnet (and preferably close to the central backbone.)<br>- access to the phone lines at a good location<br><br>or do i really have to pay the telco maintainer the big bucks for authorization? and does this ADSL2 station have to be at a specific location in the phonelines?<br><small>--<br>Alien is my name and headbiting is my game.</small>]]></description>
