i tried all of these ports with no luck, but i think i may have found the problem, sometimes the computer in question will show as being Inactive under the home network tab even if someone is browsing the internet with it, and the router will show the ip for that comp as 0.0.0.0? how is it possible that its inactive while someone is on the internet with it?? |

Quite odd indeed. I have heard of similar issues with 2wire equipment but have never experienced them myself. Usually when these types of problems are mentioned the computer has a hardcoded IP address, but as I said, I've never personally had this issue. Is the computer IP addy aquired via DHCP? When the router shows the ip of 0.0.0.0 what IP address does the computer actually have?
Obviously the firewall and nat software on the 2wire are aware that the computer is active (or likely don't care) otherwise internet communication would not work, so I wonder what 2wire keys on to determine if a node is active or not in the UI (something with ARP tables???). However, this doesn't explain why the port forwarding rules are not functioning. If the firewall and nat are allowing traffic to/from the node and there is a properly configured rule then that software would follow it. I still recommend giving DMZPlus a shot just to see if that is a possible resolution.
An interesting problem. Let us know if you find a solution. Good luck. -- Assiduus usus uni rei deditus et ingenium et artem saepe vincit |

| tell us what sw version you are using? I have the same issue with port forwarding. My version is 5.29.109.5. My provisioning details still shows kill_http inbound even after configuring port fowarding. sent email to 2-wire. will see what they say? |
