Where is a good spot near the airport to go and sit to watch the planes come in? I've gone over to the Tim Hortons or Wendys parking lot once on Airport road but its not overly ideal. Anyone have some good site seeing tips?
Dixie Road in Mississauga is almost right up against 23-05 and there's almost like a parking area where people go to watch the planes fly in right overhead. Only issue is that I don't think that runway is used as often as the 24-06es further south, but you should still get a good view.

naa...it just seems that a disproportionately high number of issues seem to happen to Airbus planes, that's all.

Proof? I think we had this exact same discussion with you before.

I suspect, though, that Western airlines wouldn't have such "rules". I think this just reflects Singapore's notoriously strict and conservative culture.
Would Emirates, based in Dubai, be much different?
Probably not, but Dubai isn't "the west"!

Maybe just the airlines I've flown on but every airbus that I've ever flown on has felt like it's tried to drive the seat through my ass.

I guess you missed the part about "completely different type of plane, completely different circumstances, completely different type of failure"!

Just flew an Airbus 310 from Ottawa to Toronto last weekend with the misses, told her "you know this thing is built in 4 different countries..." 100+ flights for me and every Airbus I fly makes me curse Karl and Brian to hell.

Hey at least they ain't made in China, though it sometimes feels like it. Hoping a 380 comes to Ottawa, I'd make the trip out to plane spot it for sure!

it doesn't matter...it's still an Airbus...besides, people curse Ford, GM and Chrysler for different models, different circumstances and different failures...i will hold the aircraft to the same set of standards.

So you're accusing Airbus of making shoddy planes, despite the absence of one shred of evidence to support that, or any statistical validity whatsoever? That makes about as much sense as blaming the Tooth Fairy for airline crashes!

If you want some facts, Airbus is very highly regarded in the aerospace community and has delivered more aircraft than Boeing in every single year since 2003. In the ten and a half year period beginning in 1999, Airbus has received more orders than Boeing in every year but three.

OT, but many years ago -- before 9/11 and all the security crackdowns -- I flew to New York with my young son on his very first airplane flight. It was an Air Canada A319 and, rambunctious child that he was, he asked to see the cockpit. They let him in and he plunked himself on the floor behind the two pilots and had such a great time that the stewardess thought I should go up and check it out too. So I spent some time up there and was just blown away by the awesome technology that Airbus is using. I've been a fan every since!

i'm not blaming anything on anyone...just pointing out yet another observation...ANOTHER crash, ANOTHER Airbus.

And what inference are we supposed to make from that?

Here's another equally useful observation. AF447 was headed to Paris. This flight had left from Paris. TWA 800 had also been headed for Paris. Uh-oh!

Pretty good safety record overall. Although the A310 seems a bit dodgy.

Part of the problem is the fleets in 3rd world countries (like...say...France ) with poor maintenance and training, flying older aircraft.
