Mixed martial arts heavyweight Kimbo Slice may be returning to television as part of UFC's "The Ultimate Fighter" reality series, Yahoo! Sports reported.
According to the report, UFC president Dana White, who has repeatedly scorned Slice's fighting skills, confirmed Slice will be of one 16 contestants appearing in the series.
"It should be interesting, given some of the things I've said about him," White said, according to the report.
Slice (3-1), who rose to prominence via Internet footage of his street brawls, turned pro and fought on national television as part of the now-defunct Elite XC circuit. In his last bout, on Oct. 4, he was stopped in 14 seconds by last-minute replacement Seth Petruzelli. Shortly afterward, Elite XC went out of business.
White pledged "some major surprises" for "The Ultimate Fighter" last Thursday, when he announced that former UFC light heavyweight champions Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Rashad Evans would serve as coaches for the 16 fighters on the show, Yahoo! Sports reported.
In the show, the 16 fighters live together and fight each other, with the eventual champion winning a UFC contract.
White earlier had insisted he would not allow Slice into UFC unless he won his way onto the show by competing on "The Ultimate Fighter," according to the report.

Haha Dana white is such a hippocrite. He said Kimbo was a disgrace and would never be in the UFC. White will do anything for ratings.
I was a big fan of Kimbo's when he made the move to MMA. He dedicated himself to it and trained under one if the best in Bas Rutten for over 2 years. I guess he still trains there after the pitiful fight agianst Seth Petruzelli and implosion of elite XC. But given that, he stands little chance with the caliber of fighters in the UFC and I don't expect him to even win a fight on the "reality" show.

Dana White has routinely dismissed Kimbo as a lowly street fighter who would get killed in the UFC. If the point of the show is to find the next UFC level talent then why invite someone you have already dismissed publically as not good enough? It is just a publicity stunt to draw in viewers and make the egomaniac White look like a guru. If Kimbo wins somehow it would make white look like an ass and that won't fly. This whole thing is to make Kimbo look like an ass and White look good. Just wait til they get done with the editing.

I'm a Kimbo fan. I hope he does well. But I also see the underlying reasons why this is happening after all white has said. White is supposedly a good boxer and trained to fight Tito Ortiz in a straight boxing match that fell through. He should put his money where his mouth is and box Kimbo if he's (Kimbo) is such a bum. |

Hell The Texas Crazy Horse would demolish Slice. Kinda sucks they don't have to fight their way into the house this season, sure we'll have someone figure out real quick they don't really want to be a fighter. But at least they have to work hard to miss weight. |

Ashburn, VA | I wouldn't go as far to say that Dana White is the biggest hypocrite in the sport, as he has clearly made numerous business choices that indicated he was doing everything within reason to promote and improve it, despite losing potentially millions of dollars as a result those decisions. He's clearly competing against alternative options for mixed martial arts competition, but I believe he genuinely wants the sport to thrive. He does appear to be a bit of a control freak within his own organization, which seemingly put-off quite a few very talented fighters, which consequently left after their contracts expired. |

Dana White is there to make money.. is he a douchebag, sometimes but through clever marketing he has taken the UFC to a level unheard of. There is no lack of fighters wanting into the UFC, sure some are gonna leave... it's like that in all businesses. You goto ANY business with 350 employees, a couple of hundred them being fighters with big ass ego's and of course not everything is going to be rosey.
I'm disappointed Dana brought on Kimbo.. but it's not surprising as it's publicity for season 10. Between Kimbo and the coaches bad blood, it really sets the stage for a very interesting season. I just hope we have no drama queens like Junie Browning in the house. |
