said by markopoleo :It actually could be worse to put it in multiple locations on network cause of the resolving issues. This, on the other hand, is random misinformation. If you're using dhcp and set the dns server to be passed out to your clients to openDNS, the clients make their request to openDNS. If you also set the openDNS addresses on the clients, they still make their requests to openDNS -- there's no difference. The one downfall of hardcoding it everywhere is the challenge involved in changing it. Set it at the dhcp server instead and all you have to do is reboot all of the clients to set them to the new address. |
