Oh so back to my initial arguement that there should be a 2dbmv difference between channels already present? |

Oh so back to my initial arguement that there should be a 2dbmv difference between channels already present? Well they want to see each channel withen a 2dbmv. So say your first channel is -2 they dont want any of the other channels past -4. Thats atleast one of the main reasons they are charging for the install im hearing about. Plus they are gunna check the downstream and upstream while there. |

| reply to madden2k5 whats early? i was getting the speeds they claim all the time with a 2.0 modem @ the 60 a month plan.... its just a way for them to make money.. its not very hard for the customer to install a coaxial cable, ethernet plug and power supply then have the HSI tech support people verify the signals @ the call center..... most of the techs installing the 3.0 modems dont have a clue what they are doing anyways. |

| reply to madden2k5 called and asked my connection at cox... channel bonding is being tested and hopefully launching next year? since other systems have up to 50Mb/s, I'm sure we'll be getting that at that point, in which case the investment in a D3 modem is definitely a better investment... sounds like they have some things in line to open up more bandwidth for HD and more HSI speed... my test this morning: 32 MB down, 6.3 Mb up. |

@cox.net | i was told well see channel bonding in Q1 or Q2 of 2010
so until then we are all getting ripped off 20 dollars a month |

@cableone.net | reply to CoxPremierScam Would you please provide results from »testmy.net ? I'm interested in sustained internet speeds and not the "Power Boost" speeds. Thanks! |

| reply to threegsus Yes, please post sustained speeds. All of this hype about "I already get 30 megs down its not worth it." is not useful if that is only powerboosting for silly 200meg demos or game patches, we want to know what this connection can really do over hours downloading/uploading tens of gigs at a time. Thanks. |

| reply to robl27 said by robl27 :i'm currently getting 2.5 upload now. would love to see say 10.0 megs upload (hint, hint) alright rob. we get it. you want a new ipg and a high upload speed. however, i look at it like this (and please correct me if i'm wrong, but given your history posting, i'd tend to think i'm closer to right than wrong)...
cox offers a true d3 "platinum" package in your area. its $140/month plus taxes. we will either (a) hear you b!tch incessantly about how expensive the package is or (b) complain about fios *still* offering higher upload speeds....
my previous statement stands...if you complain about enough things all the time, people won't listen when you do have a valid concern....

| reply to threegsus I for one find it belittling that we have the capacity for more HD, more speed at a lower rate yet it JUST IS NOT offered.

join:2009-04-09 Portsmouth, VA | most likely the DPC3000, because thats the main modem Cox is supporting. But it could be the SB6120 also. |

| reply to tomjenkinson Just finished phoning Cox and was again told it was Motorola SB6120. I pressed her on it and lo and behold her info package did not specify but indicated either the Moto or Cisco DPC3000. Every poster to this thread who has actually purchased a modem from Cox--I'm not going back through 70+ posts to confirm but I'm pretty sure that's a total of one--got the Cisco. The two Cox Uber-techs who post to this forum, CoxTech1 and CoxTOC1 (both East-coast guys but impressively knowledgeable and logical), have posted that all evidence they are aware of indicates the Cisco. I passed along what a Cox salesman told me in the post that started this whole mishigas that it was the Moto, but now am close to certain that you, friend, will get the Cisco DPC3000 and be more than satisfied with it. I decided that because my 3-year-old Mac mini scores download Mbps fairly consistantly in the low to mid 20's, I'm going to need to see a bunch of mid to high 30's before I stop preferring "Preferred." |

| reply to madden2k5 If you are on the preferred I wouldn't have bothered "Upgrading" to a 6120 personally unless I got the preferred plus. I still want to hear about the connection consistency over some long haul downloading. Me and a co-worker who live in the same apartment complex are getting the new modems on Tuesday with an upgrade to the new plan. Hope we don't cause any utilization outages... :P I did this with my good ol faithful industry standard SB5101. Speedtest.net is all powerboost, fluff, etc. Anybody have any real reports on real bandwidth with new new plan yet on a sustained download? Porn comes on blu ray these days and it appears with this new plan Cox is showing they are really being a "Friend in the digital age."
