Re: [BC] Shaw Multi-line hunting

ALL hunt group analog lines from Telus do the SAME thing.

Anyone who thinks you can assign CID on an Analog line using Asterisk or whatever is WRONG! It's the Telco that assigns the CID.

I haven't done it in awhile but if you want to pick your hunt group line numbers Telus may try charge you more.....maybe not now that they have competition.

If you want 4 or less phone lines your going to get analog lines with multiple numbers which is what Shaw is competing with.

All a hunt group is are multiple phone lines/numbers. The difference is that the Telco forwards incoming calls to line 2 if line 1 is busy, line 3 if line 1,2 are busy and so on. Outgoing on line 2 will NOT have the same CID as outgoing on line 1 because it's exactly the same as outgoing on a different phone line. It has always been that way with Telus.

This thread mentions random numbers being assigned to the additional lines for call display on outgoing calls. Is this still the case?
As of Thursday, which was the most recent time someone from the Shaw Street Team came to my office and tried to convince me to switch, the overlines still have random numbers for outgoing Caller ID. Quite annoying especially since a kid in his parents' basement with an Asterisk box could do it properly.

For sure I'll be their first customer when outgoing Caller ID is working and I will report back.

Call in and speak with the business sales team, then speak with the business support team. You'd get more information from those sources, than you could actually get from most of the users here when it comes to business features.

We are looking into a 2nd line for our business using Shaw multi-line hunting but there is not much information on it except for a couple threads here:

Does anyone have who's been using this service for a while have any feedback?

This thread mentions random numbers being assigned to the additional lines for call display on outgoing calls. Is this still the case?
