Re: [Info] Networking assistance

Hook up the MODEM directly to NIC2. I would also get a router between the MODEM and the PC.

Continue to use NIC1 for access to the home network.

Ok, I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but here it goes:

1- I have a DSL service which feeds my entire house, I use a d-link DSL-2640T as my modem/router and then I use an HP Procurve 8 port 10/100/1000 switch for distribution to my entire household.

2- I have a home server which is hooked up at 1000 base-t to the rest of the house which is currently acting as a domain and storage depository for documents, movies and misc. media.

3- My personal computer is hooked up to the internal network (Domain) on NIC 1, NIC 2 is free.

4- I am using Windows 7 RC build 7100.

5- I am thinking of getting a cable connection just for MY computer, so I don't have to share any bandwidth with the rest of the house.

6- How would I go about setting up my cable connection so that first, I still have access to my domain as well as my server on NIC 1 and second, That the internet for my personal computer only comes in through NIC 2.
