Let me start over and say, "This is what I trust and have used all my adult life" :)
Watts = amps x volts
From this you can algebraically derive any unknown, when you have 2 knowns. I usually "rough" the voltage at 120v, but any volt-ohm meter should tell you precisely.

You may use this math formula, or you can use the calculator from the link I provided earlier...

Please note that this link also provides the "same" ages-old time-proven formulas at the bottom of the page.

Now this is how I "personally" use/trust the meter.

Button 1 (volts): I trust this (merely a volt-meter)

Button 2 (amps): I trust this (merely an amp meter)

....That simple, that's ALL you need. Use the formula or the linked calculator. Then apply your desired time frame and/or cost.

Button 3 (watts): Function key. I don't use button but NOTE! If you press this a second time it will supply you with the exact same number from the formula or calculator. You can use to verify your work.

I can't discuss the other (function) buttons for fear of saying something wrong.

Good news. It's now using only 1.64 amps. A year after the first check and I guess it's lost a step in its old age. :) Anyway, after 90 minutes it shows .19 killowatts which would be .126 kwh (which you're saying isn't accurate)

Actually Brian, Your numbers are GREAT !! Makes perfect sense for mojo8@1.6amp and mojo32@1.75amp. Remember that the Q9650 posted at 4.0ghz pulling 2.5amp is a very advanced watt-hog system.

That little kill-a watt is a great tinker toy until you get to the last button which is not "practically accurate". Better to use a formula at that point. Explaining that here is above clown pay-grade (Clowns don't earn very much). Better to read-up on the meter function :)

Six years is a very long time and with new members just joining you might not feel like you can make a difference or to be part of this wonderful project.

I wanted to take a moment and tell you this is not the case. There is no better time to join then now, and have your voice heard. To become a member, it takes being a member of Discovery and joining the forum, which you have hopefully done from your welcome post. To make a difference and have a direct contribution to the project you must become a donating member (and be able to vote certain elections). There has to be a donation of some sort.

This is not to say that your voice alone will not make a difference. We have always run the project as a Democracy where every member’s voice counts and before we make any decision that would have a major impact on the project we always let our voting members have the last say.

There are many other points that can be covered, but at this time I just want to open up the floor to any questions that you might have.
