the 1.32b02 version, it just disables that one "Enable Graphical Authentication" aka that CAPTCHA or something like that.

The N never worked more than 5 minutes and even only on the G it need to be power cycled 1-4 times a day. Had it 1.5 years and finally decided to switch. I bought this one from newegg because of the number of purchasers and it's high rating from users.

So far it is working ok.

Scree posted : yeh testing that out now. For my next router reboot, I have guest zone enabled but set to Never to see if I still get this weird additional SSID (which always happens when guest zone is off, and even though its default "dlink_guest" is specified, "dlink" is used).

I do use guest zone (two neighbors basically pay my DSL bill to have access) and I have seen NO mysterious SSID's.

1) Try changing the default guest SSID to something else
2) Set security for guest zone
3) then turn guest zone off

Ok, what about the throuput? Mine can't handle 100Mbit anymore, if my server is collecting filen in 500 - 600k/sec, nearly no one within the intranet can use the net, this router is busted!

So they say! Guess they wouldn't list any major stupidity corrected. lol

Update: This version still screws up the guest zone immediately after updating (or any reboot maybe), enabling an unsecured "dlink" SID when guest zone is off. Have to toggle the guest zone on/off, or just turn on the guest zone but set it to Never, to make it go away.

Also, the router login is still "permanent" with this firmware.

If someone has a site or email to report these things, please post, I can never find it.. lol

I still sticked to 1.21 because its the best ever firmware for me. I used to have problem with the webgui hang while running torrent. After a month with 1.22 and slow internet, I revert back to 1.21 and it fix the webgui hang problem. I can run the router for 24/7 up to a month without any lag/reboot.

Your expectations are wrong. You are a beta tester and should expect to find bugs. That's why I always wear a helmet when beta testing!

Well, beta tester or not, why make a firmware that is a downgrade and make the product useless?

I have been a tester my self for many different applications and products but this is really taking the price, my 655:a works but is crap after the upgrade. Today I ordered a 825:a insted and that one is NOT going to be upgraded for a long time!

I was checking to see the available networks on a wireless computer here (xp using the Zero Config thing), and I see there's a network SID "dlink" listed that has a stronger signal than my DIR-655's SID. I checked with a util called WiFi Hopper to get more info on this new network, and I find my DIR-655's SID is not in that list. So figuring this "dlink" one must really be mine, but since it says it's unsecured I thought maybe there's a bug that enabled the guest zone even though I have that disabled (and is named dlink_guest), I turned on the guest zone and checked the available networks lists again. Well, that "dlink" SID then became "dlink_guest"! So now I turned off the guest zone again, and there is no extra SID listed now.

So..... 1.32 seems to have a glitch that sort of duplicates the main network as "dlink" and shows a stronger signal than the real SID (or just wrongly enables a bad guest zone). Wow.

Back to 1.31 very shortly.... LOL

Agree and understood that at the time of the post but even if the DIR-655 did 5Ghz, it would not be necessary in the US. As I read it?

I personally think your comment is OVERLY generous. Some of the version updates don't even last a couple of hours before they pull them.

"Test them before releasing them", hmmm... I am sure they do but how they can continually miss so many extreme problems is far beyond my ability to imagine.

I really wonder if this is not the product of language barriers. The chip-sets made in one country, the programing done in another country, the WEB Sites maintained by people in God only knows how many countries and last but not least the Management instructions from yet another country. Outsourcing - and somehow management thinks they are saving money.

The only thing that keeps me hanging in with D-Link is the fact that for all their foul-ups they seem to keep trying to get it right. It is just a quick opinion on my part but most manufacturers would not continue trying to get it right with a product this old.

So @ D'Link Inc, please keep trying to get it right. I am beginning to have doubts that you will but at least you give me new firmware to play with every now and then, which by the way is the only thing that keeps me from seeking out a new vendor.
