Windstream DSL speed at lake hartwell georgia

We just moved to lake hartwell on the georgia side if anyone has windstream and lives on the lake can you tell me the max speed you can get. They tell us the highest we can get is three mbs but two houses away has six mbs.

DSL is limited by Distance. It is like Real Estate meaning that it is all about Location, Location, Location. What others get isn't a factor. How far away you are from the Remote DSLAM is what matters along with the quality of your inside wiring plus the line all the way back to the Remote and what remote feed bandwidth is available at the DSLAM your line connects to (in other words, lots of variables that don't get tested until after you order and the line goes hot with DSL). Other people in the area may not connect to the same Remote DSLAM as your line is hooked up to. Especially if you are in an area developed after the original area as you would have wiring added from a newer Remote that may even be further away or fed from another direction.

Thanks for the response.
I was going to ask the installer when he comes if that is are max speed we can get.
The neighbor who lives in a trailer that is right next to are house like I step out the front door and there it is in front of me and she says she has six mbs with windstream so I'm hoping we can get at least that.
I wanted the twelve mbs but I guess we will have to wait for that.

You are in a Windstream area? My mother in law is on the lake in the city of Hartwell, and they have to deal with Hartcom, which in my opinion kind of sucks.

My windstream experience has not been so good, the installer came on monday set it up we had the internet for about six hours then it went out. Called and they sent another guy today he put another phone line in from the box outside then replaced the modem and it is working again right now but it is acting strange coming and going.
I hope comcast comes to this area soon there starting speed for internet is 15 mbs.
