Re: Need internet in Chicago - no ATT or Comcast on Street You're not able to get "residential" grade service so I wouldn't expect low prices for "business" grade service either. Honestly, the full T1 price quoted to you by Brent is pretty good, especially considering it is on a 1 year term and not a 3 year term. If you really need 768K of upstream bandwidth, you are going to have to pay for it in the form of a full T1 at least.
A spring 3g connection is not going to be anywhere near the same service level as a true fixed wireless solution. A 1.5M symmetrical wireless is pretty expensive at $230 but that may be business grade. Maybe you can convince a wireless provider to give you a cheaper deal if you don't want the support side of it a well.
Try asking in here: »Wireless Service Providers or here: »Wireless Users Chat. The first one might be better to try and locate a WISP in your area. Chicago is a pretty good sized area so I would imagine you have some competition there. |
