Re: HJT - Computer slowdown/popups/redirected

Hi Joker,

I removed combofix and loaded the outpost firewall.

I cannot set a restore point (or eliminate prior points through the system restore tab under "System" found in the control panel). I keep getting the message that it is unable to do so and I should restart the computer.....I did this but it is still giving me the same message. Is something we did blocking this?

Thanks

Nothing that we did should prevent that.

Right-click on My Computer and go to the System Restore tab.
Click to place a checkmark in the box for "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
Click OK, and close the System Properties window.
Restart your system.
After the system restarts, right-click on My Computer and go to the System Restore tab.
Now turn system Restore back on and click OK and close the Window.
Restart your system

Now go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > and go to System Restore.
Click "Create a restore point" > Next, give it a name, and click Create.

Were you able to create the Restore Point successfully?

Yes, I got it to work. I followed your instructions by running disk cleanup and installing online armor as my firewall. The only thing I am wondering is..... if the online armor will slow down my system?

Thanks for all your help.

It's good to hear that worked and you have System Restore working.

Remember, if you install Online Armor, you need to fully uninstall the Outpost firewall, not just turn it off (I wanted to be sure you had done that).

I don't think Online Armor will cause a significant slowdown, although each system is different and on an older, slower, system any use of additional resources will be noticed more than on a relatively fast system.
