1 edit | ATT DSL South Texas randomly disconnecting then reconnecting
I live in McAllen, Texas, and am on an RT, I am pretty close to it. Ever since i upgraded from pro to elite my service goes out throughout the day. I have a Sprint Airave connected to it and when i am speaking on it, the 2WIRE 2701-HB will flash red on the DSL then reconnect after a couple of seconds, its very annoying because you cannot hear the person speak and visa-versa. I have already called and they determined that there wasn't anything wrong with my line, but i keep having this problem every day! What do you need from me to help resolve this problem? |

| reply to StarMiXr I have the same problem in Beaumont, TX.
Were there any lightning storms down there recently? I know we had one pass through, and since then I've been having issues. The last time this happened, it was also after a lightning storm, and after putting a call into AT&T and setting up an appointment, it miraculously fixed itself, and they called to cancel the appointment. Take that as you will. But if it's happening often enough, call and report it. |

How about running a Line Quality Test from »/linequality and post the resultant URL. |

| Hearing static on my land line? yes but its not bad. when the dsl doesnt work my airave doesnt work and it does this while im on a phone call so the airave will hold the call for a while until the dsl comes back on but i cannot hear the person and they cannot hear me until the dsl reconnects. |

| said by StarMiXr :Hearing static on my land line? yes but its not bad. Ok there's the first problem.... Any static on your POTS line will affect your dsl's performance. Main thing is power off your DSL modem first. Do you still hear static when making a POTS phone call? -- If you have a topic in the direct forum please reply to it or a post of mine, I get a notification when you do this. The line quality test run says that there is a 12% data loss at:
dist2-g1-1.hstntx.sbcglobal.net
The problem is within the AT&T system. |

| reply to rdcinhou3 Further development in diagnosing the problem:
I think that my NID POTS Splitter is BAD--causing the intermittent connection.
Last night I removed it from service and went direct (bare) DSL (no voice) and was having great speed with a rock-solid connection.
Since our upstream surge arrestor was burned out, it's quite possible that the splitter was damaged in some way as well.
I've ordered a new one to replace it and will report back after installation. |

d_l Barsoom Premium,MVM join:2002-12-08 Reno, NV | A POTS splitter problem would have been easy enough to test with a 5100b, 4100, or 4100b modem. Simply look in the modem log for hybrid # flip flops between #1 and some other #, probably #2 or #3. |

 rdcinhou3
join:2004-08-31 Houston, TX | I don't understand what you mean by "hybrid # flip flops".
My modem is a Netopia 3347-02 (business class) with all sorts of diagnostics and logs. The only real reported problem was loss of sync. |
