Just curious. How old is that console TV? We got rid of the last console TV here in 1997 and it was about 10 years old by then. Your TV may work fine but is probably too big.

A couple of months ago I got rid of its replacement in a special event held by the local environmental protection agency where you could drop your old or damaged electronic stuff for free for recycling or proper disposal. Got rid of this TV, an old computer monitor, two damaged microwave ovens, two damaged UPS units, an old VCR and a couple of old computer peripherals. Nod bad! Quite some lead and other nasty stuff that didn't go to a landfill.

I'm not kidding either.
We probably live 10-15 miles from each other and I'd like not to trash this TV, because it still works great.

If you want it, it's your to take away but would really like to get rid of it ASAP.

If you could take it and store it for your new place, that would be great for me.

Right now it's outside on the rear patio.
It's protected and out of the elements, but it's in the way.

I suggest you two folks take it "offline" into PMs; no reason for us to be eavesdropping, unless the deal falls through...

Goodwill will do.
At least in our area Goodwill will not accept TVs or CRT monitors. There is no market for them and being hazardous ewaste costly to dispose of.

I agree and i think as new technology getting cheaper and cheaper no one wants to buy old junk unless you are an elderly person try retirement homes or tower communities
Or, uh, you're someone who doesn't want to buy, say, a brand new monitor for every POS "hobby" computer you pick up.

I don't even remotely qualify as being "elderly" and I buy used electronics all the time. Should I have waited until I was collecting Social Security before I picked up that 19" Sony monitor for $20? Even the cheapest 19" LCD doesn't go for $20 these days.

It's currently attached to a desktop system I pretty much ignore (at least currently). So spending the money for a brand new monitor for such a system would have made little sense.

"Old" is not synonymous with "useless" when it comes to technology. Something is only useless if you can't come up with a use for it. In which case, the problem likely doesn't lie with the item in question: it lies with you.*

*Though in the case of the OP, I agree entirely that old TV's are a hassle to get rid of.

I checked them out, they're not in New Jersey.
Thanks
They pick up from LDS Wards from around the country though, you might check with a local LDS (Mormon) church in your area »mormon.org/mormonorg/eng ··· -with-us Good luck with it!
