They can't slow to much

whne they got the statewide franchising passed in my state they agrred to a deal to deploy uverse to a set amount of homes within a specific period of time. I expect them to keep their end of the deal.

Didn't I read somewhere that ATT had made deals with states many years ago to deploy fiber to the home in this huge broadband expansion...

I'm glad it didn't slow them here in S. Florida. Official launch still set for July twenty something I believe. They just finished installing Cross box and Vrads here along with the power to it.

Reason being is I still plan to try it out and compare (to Comcast) and even if it's not as good, at least it will bring actual competition to possibly of course benefit consumers via price.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Unless you know what you're doing.

Where exactly do you live? I'm off University between Commercial and McNab.

comcast is not going to match the price. in some areas in California there is comcast and uverse. i looked into both service. i just cant believe that with uverse i cant have both my hd tvs going plus record a show on each. my wife and i dont always watch the same thing. so we both have our own tv and dvr.i have comcast and with my hsi connect i am getting about 18-29 mbps. i only pay for 12mb. att should have spent the money and do fiber to the home. then it would not matter how many hd tv's i have.

Yeah..... Might be better off finding a snowball in hell bud.. They are going to build in the more possible customer areas first.. If you can go outside and see your neighbor, then you will have it.. If you can't though, they will probably shove wild blue advertisements at you... Even when/if they do deploy, if you don't have a VRAD up your arse, its probably not going to work to full potential

Not true at all. Some of the nicest and higer-end neighborhoods in my town do not have DSL and will not be getting U-verse any time soon. It does not make financial sense to (first) serve large houses on large lots that are therefore spread far apart.

As far as I know, AT&T has never cooperated with any franchise authorities, I believe the FCC ruled Uverse is an internet service like Netflix VOD from Xbox 360 and Tivo, not a (broadcast) Cable TV service. So explain how Uverse will be CableCard complaint as required by the FCC if it were Cable TV? Plus the broadcast in analog or QAM on coax of OTA and PEG channels is fundamentally impossible.
