| reply to icemannyr1 Re: WSAH switching to Retro TV July 1st.
Since last night, I noticed that the audio on WSAH (channel 19) has improved to where it's audible and where both music and dialogue are together. I got a reply from Gustavo in the Verizon Direct forum but all he did was ask me about my audio connections and my set top box settings as if the problem was on my end and not on their end. I guess we are on our own when it comes to WSAH.
I have also noticed that the colors on WSAH tend to occasionally flash in and out. This problem happens on both my SD and HD boxes. I'm starting to wonder if all these problems are either WSAH's fault or perhaps a weak signal from WSAH to FiOS to all of us in NNJ and NYC. |

True, the quality of the station is probably poor, but there is definitely a problem with the audio and the engineer knew about it. |

| I got a call from Verizon on my open ticket in the Direct Forum. Of couse they were blaming WSAH. I told them I spoke to the chief engineer at the station and he knew of the problem and he said it was Verizon's fault. She insisted it couldn't be and I kept persisting back, she said she will investigate more, but it just looks like a lot of finger pointing right now with the customer caught in between. |

| reply to icemannyr1 With the network primetime shows in reruns this summer, I was planning to catch up on some old favorites on the American Life Network.
But, since some religious outfit bought the network, their schedule has been pared of most such shows.
And, now that Verizon doesn't seem interested in us using streaming vidoe, via the Media Manager, to watch TV shows from the internet, perhaps they could find a way to add Retro TV to their lineup.
Sure would be a nice addition. Mark F. |

I agree with icemannyr1's description of both the video and audio on WSAH (channel 19). I noticed that the video has flashes or "hits" as icemannyr had called it while the audio is a bit lower than other channels but the sound has improved. |

| reply to icemannyr1 I just tuned in to channel 19 (WSAH) at 5:30 AM and I got the "This channel is currently unavailable" screen. Perhaps either WSAH or Verizon is working on the problem. At the Verizon Direct forum, Gustavo wanted me to check the SNR inband status on channel 19 but since the channel was out, I was unable to do so. |

| reply to Mark F I saw that a televangelist had bought the network, which does stink. Family Net is very similar, they air a few hours of old shows, but mostly 700-Club. I've enjoyed watching Batman and Mission Impossible on American Life.
As for Verizon, they stopped the development of watching hulu-type services (though I know Hulu wouldn't let them use that site)?
On subject, again, I wish someone were able to confirm how the video/audio is from WSAH over the air. I bet its no better. |

| Some cable systems, like here in Fort Wayne, offer ION where there is no ION affiliate. Couldn't Verizon do the same with Retro TV, in lieu of making a deal with Hulu?
With TV Land abandoning many classic TV shows in favor of more recent fare, newer movies, and reality shows, I think that this might be a good idea.
We have Blockbuster Online, and I often check out »www.tvshowsondvd.com , but many classic shows aren'i on DVD or available on any channel we now get. Mark F. |

I think the issue is that there is no national feed of RTN. In fact, from what I have heard the local broadcast channels pick and choose programming from RTN's library of shows. So RTN in one city may be different from RTN in another city. ION on the other hand has a national feed. Directv carries it. |

I thought they were coming up with something that allowed you to watch some of those, especially youtube, from your cable box? |

1 edit | I spoke to the chief engineer again at WSAH. He still says Verizon knows of the audio problem. He said it's out of phase. This guy doesn't seem to care or seem very concerned. He's also the general manager. If I was the GM & chief engineer of a TV station and something was wrong with the audio, I'd make sure it was fixed ASAP and apologize to anyone who calls. This guy's attitude sucks. Oh well, if it doesn't get fixed by the new format, then I'm not watching it. He doesn't care, Verizon doesn't care, then neither do I. Shameful. |
