| CableOne Bumping the 8.0Mb tier to 10Mb?
Just noticed this at CO's site:
So, if the page holds true, we should see an upgrade to 10Mb down and 1Mb up (from 500). Goin' to power cycle to see if there's been a true bump. -- »www.areoh.com |

John, are you still on the 3Mb plan? I'm also curious if they'll be bumping you guys up as well. |

| reply to areoh I sent an email to CO over the weekend. They gave me a call this morning. I can confirm that the new tier is active in this area. However, you will need to contact your local CO office rep to have the bump official.
I will test once I'm back home. |

| reply to areoh I would bet good money that CableONE only loads the modem configuration on a reboot.
Cold Reboot: Turn your router (or PC) off Unplug Modem power Unscrew Modem coax cable wait 30 seconds Screw in Coax Plug in power Wait for 4 green lights to go solid power up router. (or PC if you only have one)
Then see if you have higher capacity.
It would be nontrivial to change the tftp boot file without a reboot of some sort, although it may take less of a reboot than I specify.. -- I tried to remain child-like, all I achieved was childish. |

| Jim, as stated, I power cycled my network over the weekend and that didn't result in any changes.
I'm now home and can confirm that they DID bump. Nice.

| reply to areoh I tried the power cycle myself this afternoon and still got same 3mb down. Called the local office and asked about the new speeds was told they went live on june 1st but, cableone is not doing auto upgrades to them. You must call at this time to get the new speeds. Simple 10 min call and i was up and running at the new 5mb tier at same price as my old 3mb. |

so if you have the 5 MB what your screwed looks like the 3mb tier is now the 5mb tier and the 5mb remains the same. |

Now I nearly get the 3Mb plan I paid for because I'm past the threshold limit all the time, yay! |

So only time/bill will tell who is right. I really hope your bill says otherwise. I was sharing my friend's business connection for a while and I'm thinking about going back to CableOne, but $49 per month for their standard package is insane. I was paying $39.50 last time I was with them for their standard package (Modem included.).

| Looks like they turned the old 3 Mb tier into the 5Mb tier for no cost.
The old 5 Mb tier is now the 10 Mb up/1 Mb down tier.
If you had the old 8 Mb tier, you can call and get the new 10 Mb tier for $10 cheaper than you were paying!
But beware about these new tiers. The 5 Mb tier limits you to 3 GB of total usage per day (not just during noon-midnight) and the 10 Mb tier has a limit of 5 GB/day. If you exceed these daily limits more than half of the days in your bill cycle, they will deem you an "excessive user" and may turn off your account.
Isn't it fun living in small towns where the big bad ISPs can make policies like this and get away with it? |

| reply to areoh Just got my bump from 5M to 10M at no extra cost!
Wonder if CableOne knows they are not being talked about highly and is trying to make customers happy? Not publicizing the increase is a bit shady but I'll take the increase |

Sweet deal really but they should just do it instead of making customers call in. |
