| [Notebooks] Advice sought on upgrade from Sprint/OQO modem Hello. I have been using an OQO Model 2 with Nextel/Sprint PCS unlimited wireless broadband data service for the past two years. I am now eligible for a modem upgrade from Sprint. The OQO Model 2 has the modem circuitry hardwired into the device motherboard (Novatel Wireless Expedite ES620). I would like to change to a USB-connected modem so that I am no longer tied to a single computer. The catch is that I have read that if I exercise my Sprint upgrade rights, I will be signed up for a new 2-year contract with a 5GB per month ceiling. My current plan features unlimited usage, and I would prefer to remain grandfathered into that plan for as long as possible. To the best of my knowledge I have never exceeded 5GB in a month, but it goes against my grain to voluntarily give up something of potential value for nothing. So, here is my question - if I buy a Sprint Rev-A compatible modem from someone other than Sprint (i.e., on the used market), will I be able to configure it (and/or the computer software that supports it) with the parameters from my current "built-in" OQO/ES620 modem so that it will work correctly with my existing plan and service, or would that require some technical involvement by Sprint? If it does, can they (and are they likely to) refuse to help me unless I "upgrade" my plan? Thanks in advance.

| Re: [Notebooks] Advice sought on upgrade from Sprint/OQO modem It's very unlikely they would allow anychanges without moving you to one of the new capped plans. They want to get rid of those old uncapped plans ASAP.
As for a device I would recommend checking out their implementation of the MiFi. I have read reviews of the device on Verizon, but the hardware is the same.
