| [connectivity] Verizon DSL Fujitsu Modem lights on Actiontec no
I lost my Earthlink dsl connection about two weeks ago and after a great deal of wrangling and lost time, I decided to go with Verizon (my landline phone co).
They scheduled the install, sent the kit, i installed but have the same issue with the actiontel, that i had with the replacement earthlink modem no dsl connect light, no internet light.
Have check the wiring from dsl jack all the way to the junction box on the house. wiring is good, No dsl connect.
Wiring at the junction box shows reversed polarity coming from the phone co line, bu that shouldn't matter, right?
Verizon sending a tech out monday, but here is the weird thing:
I have an old fujitsu modem from a disconnected verizon dsl business account that my company closed (verizon said we could "throw away" the modem). when I plug that modem in, I get status lights (modem and data). I would assume it's connecting to SOMETHING.
Anyway I could get in that modem and change the settings to connect to verizon? Is it PPOE? what would those setting be?
I was using a Dell 1184 wireless broadband router. Previous earthlink dsl worked steadily for 6-7 years with no issues. |

Using the Fujitsu, you want a solid Ready light. Using the Actiontec, (a combination Modem/Router/Wireless access Point) you want a steady DSL light. Since there's a tech scheduled, you should have the Actiontec connected and turned on. Whether the tech gets to your door or not, when the DSL light stops flashing you should be in business. In CA you will use DHCP, (or Automatic), not PPPoE. -- reboot, reset, reconfigure, then recycle. |
