 | [SK] Saskatoon routing Issues In the last couple weeks my routing seems to have changed. I usually play games on a variety of chicago servers where my ping is about 40, but recently my ping doubled to almost all of the servers.

Both servers located in chicago. My routing used to be identical for both servers until a couple weeks ago, but now I appear to get routed half way across north america to get to one and a direct path to the other. Is there any way to fix this? |

 | Not sure where the servers are located that you're trying to connect to, but it would appear they're in totally different locations (but I could well be wrong. It's too late for me to try to do a locate on the destination IPs). They're going through different networks, so it could be due to various routing entry points to the different networks, that's causing it to trace to a different path. |

 | On the Telus thread, some poster claimed there was fiber damaged to the east and may take up to a few weeks to get it fixed. Seems like all the usual routing path got switched temporarily.
this is not 100% confirmed but that explanation makes sense. Both Shaw and Telus have the same screwed up routing from my findings. |

 | reply to iggiafrica3 Still having the same issues, it appears I get routed to vancouver first to about 80% of the US now, whereas I used to be routed through chicago everywhere. |

 | I blame peer1....
they probably offered something cheap to ISPs and forced them to dump their usual peers...
always about money. |
