| reply to ZandraBee said by ZandraBee :I'm new at this, and have been trying a little at a time. I didn't know there was a fee either. Yeah I know you are new at this. Just some tips to help you play the game a little better. Just be a little bolder and make more aggressive investments and max out the amount of money you invest. Just remember, it is only monopoly money you are playing with.
You only made $250 over the past two weeks. If that was your day job, it is a lot less than minimum wage and you wouldnt have enough money for food and rent money.
I play as a day trader, and it has worked well for me in the past on VSE, and starting to look up for me once again.

| reply to ZandraBee said by ZandraBee :The market took a huge dump. Not for nothing, but I was looking at your portfolio. You have made 24 transactions since the game started. You do not seem to be taking advantage of the money available for investment. Every account has $100,000 available, plus another 100K in margin; giving you 200K to play with.
Now lets take an example of a transaction you made. On 6/17 you bought 50 shares of 'T' at $24.31. Eight days later on the 25th, you sold those shares for 24.83 for a profit of $0.52 per share totaling $26. Now take the $9.95 buy and sell transaction fee from your profit, you end up with a net of $6.10 profit for eight days time with 50 shares.
Now how about trying the same transaction with different numbers. Say you bought 8000 shares @ $24.31 for a total of $194,480 on the 17th, and you sell it on the 25th @$24.83 for a total of $198,640 giving you $4160 net minus the transaction fees for a total net of $4140.10.
I noticed some accounts people are playing, and not taking advantage of the 200K available for investing. Right now you only have about $5500 invested in the market. You have another 195K that you can have working for you right now that you dont. |

| reply to manfmmd I have been sitting on centurytel and embarq stock on and off every day waiting for the FCC announcement... I assumed the stocks would spike when the merger was finalized... it was my ace in the hole, I have 5,000 CTL stocks today, the FCC approves the merger and... nothing. :P -- DSLr Mafia Member. |
