I have looked at them also. Looks like most of the features normal people use are included. They do have click to call and music on hold, and call hold. Don't seem to have the newer feature VT just added callerid block by name and outbound routing. Not sure if they have something similar to the blacklist features (blockcall, busy, stopcalling ect.) PP website seems to be goofed at the moment.

Don't know if they have outbound callerid with name.

Have no idea what the CP looks like. Don't seem to have demo

Only concern I see is if you are BYOD they actually lock the device. I understand why but I would never allow it. But then I don't own an ATA so I would just use the supplied device. So for me it wouldn't be an issue.
Here are some screenshots for everyone. They do have outgoing caller ID with name and Blacklisting. Custom music on hold is coming soon. If you are using their device why would BYOD even be a concern? The reason they lock it is to prevent un-needed support calls and DOS attacks. Of course people that like to tinker with the settings and are that anal don't usually care about other peoples time and resources? They only lock the lines in the ATA their service uses anyway.

Crap 44402812 See Profile actually posted a useful post here without bashing anyone. World must be coming to an end.

Why don't they advertise they have outbound callerid with name. For me thats a required feature. PP is not the only one not clear on this.

I thought everyone had outgoing CIDWN by now? Support is really quick about returning emails! If you have a question ask Far as bashing people goes, I only do it if they get stupid or cough an attitude.

Re: Thinking of leaving VT for PhonePower. Any thoughts?

After a very confusing chat session here is what they sent in an e-mail

"We pass ALL caller ID info we are sent, if a name and number are sent to us, they will both be relayed. If only a number is sent to us, only a number will be relayed.
For outbound calls, there are two options for caller ID. Either you can have it display the first and last name on the account, as well as the number, or blocked entirely. You cannot choose to block just the name or just the number, it is either both on, or both off."

Now I can only hope their phone service is at least as good as VT as I have no way to test their service until my number ports over

With the recent threads in this forum I don't see how they can be any worse? If VT had stellar service you would not be heading for greener pasturs?

Price. Ever consider that? My service worked well but there were some better deals out there. Fairly simple.

Agreed. If it wasn't for price and VT screwed up billing system I wouldn't bother looking around. Probably would have already signed up for another 18 months.

Me too. My ViaTalk two year plan ends on July 26. As I use ViaTalk only as a back-up to my main VoicePulse line (and as a Los Angeles number even though I'm in NY), price is a big issue for me.

Unfortunately, it looks like PhonePower's 2nd year free offer expires in a few days. If they resume that promotion at the end of July I might join. Otherwise, the savings isn't enough to move.

I've been watching that 2nd year free offer and so far it renews as soon as it expires... However this could change by the time I renew, which would change my overall outlook. Unfortunately VoicePulse is not an option for me as they don't offer service in my area.

Started another chat to ask about the port status since I have not seen any communications since I signed up. The number they were going to port was the number I put into the second step of the signup process where they tell you to provide a number other then your VOIP number and not the number I put into the first screen of the signup process where they specifically ask for the number to port. They claim to have made the correction but at this point I am very afraid they will screw things up. Maybe I will cancel everything at this point and just stay with VT and atleast I wont have to worry about losing my phone numbers with these people.

Hope they don't end up porting you cell out. That would really be bad especially if the cell company hits you with at $200 ETF.

Wow, I guess if I go with them I'll try to leave that second step blank (if you can). Good luck!

Med1234,

I have confirmed with my Billing manager that your order was corrected and resubmitted. We will not port out the wireless number that was originally submitted to us. Should you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns regarding the order, please feel free to contact our sales staff.

Thanks for all your help. So far CS has been top notch could not ask for more at PP price.

I know there are weaknesses in »/gbu ... but I've been around the BBR Forums since 2005 ... and I usually tell it as it is ... so you might want to at least look at my PP Review to get one impartial long time poster's view.

Make that 2... You can read my review as well. Trust me as with ViaTalk if the service becomes screwy I will be the first to let people know!

When I first went with PhonePower is was a little rocky, but it could have very well been Verizon. We had about 10 phone calls where people complained we sounded robotic. Since then we were put on a different router @ the DSLAM and our HT-502 has been updated. So it is\was hard to figure out the real culprit. I myself think it was a combination of latency and a congested router? Since these are circumstances beyond PhonePower's control I can't blame them.

Just be aware that every VoIp service has hiccups due to latency somewhere, dropped udp packets, etc. PhonePower sounds like we are right next door and can hit the other party with a stone 99% of the time.
Like any over VoIp service that uses the public internet you may get a few calls with a little echo? Or we might pick up the phone, dial a number, and nothing happens? So I hang up call again and the call goes through with no worries.

Is my service bulletproof, no! What service is? Is PhonePower reliable enough so I can pick up the phone and not have to worry if I'll get a dial tone, dropped call, fast busy? Hell Yeah! Welcome to the club and feel free to PM if you would like to see what service is like without the PTSN in the way.
