As far as I know, the EQ-660R is just a rebranded P-660R, so the link ElementZ posted should be good. |

| reply to dude34221 well a heartattack later i am still with ZyNOS F/W Version: V3.40(ACZ.8)_upg | 06/11/2007
i downloaded the firmware from zyxel, extracted and tried to update the 660 from Firmware and Factory Reset on the modem. i pressed upload and all lights went off but two green ones. the modem then proceeded to have all the lights turn back on like normal but the webpage config just hung there. waited 20 minutes with no change. had a heartattack thinking i bricked it, pressed refresh, then saw nothing happened at all. i am really confused as to why this isn't working. any ideas? and thanks for the clarification on what firmware to use, the last thing i want is a dead modem. |

| Try pushing and _holding_ the factory reset button (the one you need a paper clip for) till it resets. You have to hold it for a good 15 seconds or so. Give it a couple of minutes to restart, then try »192.168.2.1
You may have to switch it to bridge mode to get back online. Thats what I had to do with mine. |

| Don't worry about it if you can't update to the 2009 firmware. The changes from the 2007 version are very rarely going to impact normal users. The fixes are mostly for people using command line functions with the modem. So unless you are opening a shell to give the modem commands I wouldn't worry about it.
There was nothing in the update that will increase speed or stability when you use the modem like normal. |

3 edits | reply to Embarq_Joey Hey Joey, I had them remove that link, although it looks like the page is still up. All the necessary modem upgrades are supposed to be pushed out through the network.
I did have this copy of the Embarq firmware laying around on my PC, but I don't know what version it is. My modem is bridged so I can't upload it to test it - but anyone is free to download it if they want.
Edit: The firmware I had was 3.40.ACZ.4, a much older firmware. |

Of course, if anyone would like a copy they can still IM you and arrange for you to send them one. Thanks. --

1 edit | reply to dude34221 I updated my firmware with the one rabeatz had but it went down a few versions.
System Name: EMBARQ ZyNOS F/W Version: V3.40(ACZ.8)_upg | 06/11/2007 DSL FW Version:TI AR7 07.00.02.00 Standard:NORMAL
System Name: EMBARQ ZyNOS F/W Version: V3.40(ACZ.4) | 07/29/2006 DSL FW Version:TI AR7 04.03.00.01 Standard:ADSL_G.dmt
Does anyone have a copy or a link to where I might be able to get at least V3.40(ACZ.8)_upg | 06/11/2007 again? I no longer have it on my computer as I updated to it sometime ago.

1 edit | For the life of me I can't find a copy of the firmware anywhere.
So - I unbridged my modem, and extracted the firmware from it using telnet and TFTP. To make sure it works, I installed the firmware you installed, then installed my extracted firmware. That downgraded it to ACZ.4, and then the extracted succesfully upgraded it to ACZ.8, like you had before (decided not to use you as the guinea pig this time ).
Silentwolf - i emailed you the ACZ.8 firmware that I extracted
If anyone here has the ACZ.9 or ACZ.10 firmware installed on their 660, i'd be glad to provide directions on how to extract the firmware so that others can manually upgrade theirs to that firmware. |
