Hmmmm. . .purchase the modem and receive an instant in-store credit of $50. The disclaimer notice further states that the $50 credit will be applied to the customers bill within 60 days of activation. So, if I interpret this correctly, the customer buys the modem; the store gives an instant $50 dollar credit. Within 60 days of activation Rogers will apply $50 credit to the customer's bill. However, if for whatever reason the customers decides to cancel the internet within 60 days, you loose out on the $50 dollars credit Rogers would apply to your bill. Always a catch. Buyer beware. . .

Re: Rogers High Speed Internet Free Modem Offer/3 mnoths Free

So Called Rogers Sales and they have no idea about this offer. On contrary He(Indian Guy) was more interested me signing up immediately than listening about offer.
So off to Rogers plus or Future shop for more details. But I would believe Rogers stores people over Future Shop guys. I don't have problem being with Rogers for more than 3 months.

Deals will sometimes be exclusive to certain retailers, so if Future Shop says there is a deal and Rogers Plus doesn't, it might be exclusive to Future Shop.

You still have to pay the full cost of the modem $100 up front and there is a $14.95 activation fee but with a full credit for the modem, 3 free months and a $50 credit how can you go wrong even if you have to sign up for a year that's a great deal. I just wonder what the heck the $50 credits is for? The offer was pretty sweet without it. All they had to do was was waive or credit the activation fee and this goes beyond that.

The only other unknown I see is the possibility of installation fees because if there is only one cable feed into the house you have to split the cable going into the modem at the source with a proper splitter which most home owners don't have so it will probably require an Rogers tech visit. A few years ago, they waived the fees when I first installed mine but I don't believe they always do it.

There's only an installation fee if you request an installation but you're buying the self-installation kit so no install fee is charged. The kit also includes a splitter or at least mine did.

On the subject of credits, they claim up to a $290 value.

My interpretation:
I make that out to be the modem at $100, the service for 3 months a value up to $140 ($46.66 max service value per month credit) and the additional $50 for a total of $290.

If you choose a higher Hi speed that costs more, the credit won't exceed $46.66 and you will pay the difference but if you choose a lesser service they will pay up to the value of that service for the month and the actual credit to you would be less than $140 over the 3 months. The 3 month credit looks like it's roughly based on Express rates.

theres a topic on this for RFD. No contract required but a lot of the CSRs will force it upon you (stand your ground and insist no contract, mention summer promotion).

What I get from this, you buy the Modem for $100 (+ tax) and you will get a $150 CREDIT on your bill. You get 3 months for free. Your $150 credit will carry you for an additional 3 months.

Basically they are offering you a free modem and half-off internet for 6 months.

I had no idea Rogers charged customers a rental fee.

Anyway, good deal if you were planning on signing up. Though I supposed $100 for six months of internet isn't a bad deal either.

I think one catch of this offer is that the credit for the modem is issued to the account; the only way to actually get the value of the credit is to keep the service after the intro period...so best case scenario you are still out of $99.95 + tax + 14.95 activation fee (+tax?)

I don't think that a credit balance is refunded, but I'll call Rogers just to check

Rogers High Speed Internet Free Modem Offer/3 mnoths Free

Don't know about the current offer on the promotion being discussed, however, I purchased my Rogers cable modem yesterday (July 5, 2009) at Canada HiFi & Electronics »www.canadahifi.ca/ two blocks south of Bloor on Yonge. Until the end of July this retailer is selling Rogers cable modems for $59.00. Upon activation of the modem, the promotion that Rogers offered me is 6 months of HiSpeed Lite at $31.00. The modems are brand new.

Re: Rogers High Speed Internet Free Modem Offer/3 mnoths Free

Rogers plus stores are clueless most of the time. I confirmed the extension with the activation rep 3 times. Just buy the modem from the Rogers+ store (don't forget to collect your gift card) and if they offer to activate it, refuse it.
Go home and call the 1-866 number on the box before opening the package, confirm the Promo offer ($100 + $50 credits) and then proceed with activation by giving them the serial# and mac addy printed on one side of the box. A $15 activation will apply!
After July 31st, the offer will just be $100 credit until Sep 31st.

If they refuse the offer, you can simply return the packed cable modem back for a refund.

EDIT: The Activation number is 1-866-835-6622

I forgot about gift card and wife won't forgive me forever for that. Even if the gift is $10 worth.

Hey,

I am interested in getting this 3 months free offer.

Well i purchase the modem for $59.95, and then i get 3 months free internet, and also $150 credit? Is that correct?

So that means i will basically get internet for 6 months if i use that credit to pay my rogers bill, assuming it will be around $50?

Also we had rogers internet at home 1 month ago under my dad's name and it says on their website that "New activations only. Customers cannot have been a Rogers Hi-Speed Internet customer within the last 90 days"

So is it possible to get benefit of this offer if i order the internet under my mom's name or brother's name, etc? OR will it not work?

I am looking for a new internet connection and came across this offer.

Thanks alot for helping.

So i get modem for free now? And with 3 months free and $50 credit? That sounds great.

Is there any contract required?

No Contract. When you call the number to activate the modem they will ask you for a contract. But Say no and choose whatever plan. Activation charges of 14.95 are applied and adjusted against the $99.95 credit.

Re: Rogers High Speed Internet Free Modem Offer/3 mnoths Free

The $50 credit is an additional credit and then there's the $99.95 credit so in total $149.95 in credits. Where you pick it up doesn't matter much, just choose to activate at home, I never trust those sales people.

I just went to THE SOURCE.

They told me that its 3 months free if you take Rogers for 1 year, but if you dont then you have to pay regular price for the 3 months (no free).

She didnt know much i suppose, so can someone explain to me what she meant? does she mean a contract?

I dont want to do a contract...

Thanks.

Just get the kit. They will try to force you into a contract probably to get commision but it's not required for the promotion itself.

mlerner, did you take this promotion offer aswell?

Sales Rep didnt mention anything about the $50 additional credit...

Ok i will get the Kit tomorrow. How long will it take to activate it?

I am looking to get Rogers Extreme free for 3 months, is it possible?

After 3 months, they will bill me the regular price ($59.99)?

Thanks.

Re: Rogers High Speed Internet Free Modem Offer/3 mnoths Free

I didn't get the promo but I know what it entails. At most it'll take 15-20 minutes, you just give the rep some info over the phone along with the MAC address of the modem and you'll be up and running in about 10 minutes after that. Yes three months free so after that time they will charge you full rate but you are free to cancel or change your plan but do it the month before.

No. The DOCSIS 3 service is currently in limited deployment, for that service you cannot use this kit or the promo.
