Yes, I'm a member of BARA (K2BAR). I joined right after I passed my Tech exam.

If you want, stop by for Field Day. Go to »www.arrl.org/contests/announceme···ator.php and enter in K2BAR for the location. It is in the parking area of the Bergen County Emergency Services facility across the street from the Bergen Regional Medical Center (aka Bergen Pines Hospital). It's under construction right now so we won't have our normal spots to work in but we'll have 4 stations set up with a tower and tri-bander and wires for other bands. I think we're operating 4F.

If you come, just ask anyone for David / K2DSL. I should be there the entire time.
Cool, I'll probably be operating Field Day at my (school) club station in Newark (I'm the VP).... Otherwise, I was seriously considering either BARA or 10-70's Field Day...

Here's a preliminary report on what the club did. We setup two towers at the top of a mountain overlooking the Hudson River just into NY state north of NJ. Weather was poor all weekend up until the moment we had to shut down and tear things down. Then the sun came out and it beat on us as we broke down the towers, antennas, shelters, etc. Mother nature is so cruel! We operated from FN31. Operated mostly 6m and some 2m.

Band QSOs Grids
50 508 99
144 234 30
222 43 17
432 72 20

We had sporadic 6m openings throughout the weekend to FL, Puerto Rico, the southeast coast, Texas and a lot of the midwest. I don't think we had anything logged from Colorado and west of there. I don't know the longest 2m contact.

A bit more detail at »www.k2dsl.com/2009/06/15/vhf-qso···wrap-up/

Are you a member of K2BAR? I was thinking of joining... You recently had a hamfest in Washington, right?

One of those QSOs was our station.

Thanks for FN21!
You're welcome.

We made about 40 contacts each, not a serious effort by any means, just trying out the steppir on 6 (6 elements on 6).

I made one contact with K2BAR. All I have up is a 6M antenna. My 2M antennas for horizontal polarization are in the barn. I hope to get them up this summer.

Well...spent all weekend (so far) getting my satellite antennas assembled and checked out for Field Day. I haven't used the "Big Guns" in 4 years, so had a lot of cobwebs to blow off, hardware to check, and software to update. The girlfriend's backyard isn't quite big enough to mount the full length of my Yagi's on the crossboom going through the elevation rotor, so I faked it with two pieces of mast standing in for the 2M and 70cm antennas. At least it lets me watch the "antennas" follow a satellite through the sky. This is the first time I've had full PC control of azimuth and elevation, and it's pretty neat to watch them "track" a bird.

Our club, K2BAR goes up on a high hilltop (ex- Nike missile site) and operates as long as the threat of thunderstorms isn't in the forecast. We'll operate from Sat to early afternoon on Sunday before tearing down and heading home.

I might be able to participate in it, as I'm dragging all my satellite station stuff over to the girlfriend's house so I can do a dry-run for Field Day.
Anybody else going to operate?
