Montgomery County Maryland Tax?

Anyone here from MoCo MD receive a voice message from Vonage about a new phone tax?

Re: Montgomery County Maryland Tax?

yup.Beginning with monthly invoices generated on and after June 1st, Montgomery County requires vonage to charge customers within their jurisdiction a $2.00 per line tax. This is a tax that Vonage collects on behalf of the county and vonage pass it through to the county.

Looks like Baltimore City and Montgomery County started this a while back:

(I hate websites like that one because there is no date on the news story!)

Re: Montgomery County Maryland Tax?

Thanks!

Gee, I guess my age is showing. I am used to news stories having a date at top, not in fine print at the very bottom.

You and me both. Given the time between this post and today, one could assume Vonage lost whatever legal challenge they tried.
