Re: Bandwidth monitoring - whats up?

There's no incentive for Cogeco to listen to those pleas.

For the most part, consumers have a choice of Cogeco (or Rogers) vs Bell. Yes, there's resellers, but the average consumer doesn't look beyond the big ISPs.

And, the problem with Bell is location. At best, they are the same as Cogeco.

So, why would Cogeco listen? While I hear the arguments that it isn't Cogeco's fault there's no competition (and I don't disagree with that), it IS Cogeco's decision to, in spirit, collude with Rogers and Bell to offer limited choice.

In other words, to take advantage of the situation.

Why? Because there's no reason not to.

Bell sent me a flyer today with some interesting new packages....

Bell Max 12 - $39.95 - Speed up to 12 Mbps - Usage 50GB - Extra 40GB $5/mo

Bell Max 16 - $49.95 - Speed up to 16 Mbps - Usage 75GB - Extra 40GB $5/mo

I'm sure there are more fee's, modem rental. etc but the bandwidth is loosening up a tad. I like the 40GB for $5...wooohoo

I just got my june bill today I had 20.50 overages to my already 55.60 bill. However, overages were credited because of their probs with the meters. Doesnt say that on bill so the average joe must be like what the heck. Does anyone know if overages for July will be credited. Im not over yet.

Also shouldnt cogeco just upgrade you to the pro for the month. 55.60 +22.50 would be more expensive then the pro with less usage and speed.

Same here.

Just got a 85% notice when the meter reported 80% usage.

I had the 85% usage thing reported about a week ago - and when I checked my Internet Usage, I was well beneath at around 50%.

For the past 4 days - (ironically, heading towards the end of this month) I get a "There is no internet service associated with your account" when checking my Internet Usage page. What a wonderful system!

Hmm... It almost seems like they're purposely sending these warnings out as scare tactics even if the user has low usage.

I got my 100% warning at 90% usage. I called up the tech line and he said it was sent out as a mistake (aka their system is f'd.) and I can discard the email.

He also mentioned that there would be charges for overages this month. How can they possibly do this when the meter is extremely unreliable?

My 30 day notice sounds likely soon.

My meter just says "Sorry, your request was not processed due to unavailability of the system. Please try again later."

It has said this for several days now. A very reliable system they have in place.

LOL mine's barfed up too. On a page titled "Consommation Internet" (I've noticed several pages with French titles), I get the following:
"There is no internet service associated with your account"

How can Cogeco possibly charge me for bandwidth with that?

ferdo

Who did they pay to make this web site? That "kid" in the family that supposedly knows everything about computers? As company they should be embarrassed. I know if I was some leader in that company, someones head would roll until that shit got fixed.
