Re: [Help] Belkin N+ Wirles Modem Router won't FTP

Hi - saw moggoly post. I have cable internet rather than DSL. Is MTU still relevant with cable? If so - do you know how I can change it? I have same issue where I can't FTP

Try changing your MTU from the stupidly default 1432 to the maximum 1500. I had exactly the same issue, and after an hour on the phone to Belkin support, we eventually tried changing this value and all FTP access is now working fine.

Problem with the FTP has now resolved itself, I have made no changes to anything nothing has changed at the server end (i know cos I own them) but somehow it now works, and very fast.

Makes no sense as the old router would work and this one would'nt.

Soory I cant give anyone else the solution, I would if I knew what it was!!

Hi
I am having the same problem with the same router. I spoke with Belkin earlier today about a different (although probably related) problem - trouble with VOIP, listening ports and incoming calls.

I will also bring up this FTP issue and hope they have a good explanation!

Yes, it appears to show directory info on servers that have a small amount of data on them (a couple of files) anything beyond that and it wont timesout.

I can't get into belkins site for support, i keep getting application error messages from the belkin interface.

Confirm the problem, with some servers it works, slow but works, with other it goes to timeout.

I opened a ticket on belkin support.

THIS IS A SERIOUS BUG.

OK, no getting any responses so i'll turn the question round. Does anyone who does own this router have FTP working ok?

I've just got a Belkin N+ Wirles Modem Router and it refuses to FTP to websites.

I know the router is the problem and not anything else as it is the same issue on 5 different PC's that go through the router and if I change the router to a different model then it works again.

I can FTP to some sites but not others, it appears that if the amount of data on the ftp site is very small I can get access but if it is over a few K then it wont work.

It gets as far as showing the directory but wont open the main folder of content on the server, it appears to hang.

I have turned the firewall off, put the PC outside the router in DMZ, unblocked ports 20 and 21, all the usual culprits but nothing is working.

Anyone else able to FTP with this router?

Also when I power cycle the router it refuses to boot up and I have to do a factory reset and re-enter all the details again. i have taken 1 router back and had it changed but this one is the same.

All other aspects of the router work ok, its just the FTP.

Hope someone can help
