Actually yes, I'm having problems with pptp VPN that I have set up at home but Cisco IPSEC VPN for work is not having problems. I run my own VPN server and I can see that it's sending out some data during the handshake but the iPhone is not receiving it and times out. I am running the 3.1 beta which may be a problem, but it used to work fine. Yup! I have a solution that will prevent the error. Start up your music app on the iPhone, start playing a song, THEN plug it into the stereo. It should recognize it right away, and work from there. Unfortunately you cant plug it in like before, and have the stereo turn it on/start playing automatically, But once it is plugged in, everything works fine.

Though, as for a permenent fix, I guess that's up to Apple for an update, there's no way to make it go back to how it used to be quite yet. :(

I haven't noticed any crashing when plugged into the head unit... Though I have found more and more bugs with my iPod Touch + Version 3.0.

E-Mail is extremely buggy.. Especially with Gmail when in the spam folder, when doing mass deletions, everything will just dissapear, If you touch the screen and drag down, it all appears for about 1 second, then dissapears again. Usually ends up crashing out to the home screen after 20 seconds.

Wifi is also extremely touchy at work here. It will disconnect from the router, and going to settings -> Wifi will show up NO results. Can sit there for 10 minutes, closing it, turning it off, on, etc... Yet I have a program, I think its called WifiTrack, the SECOND you open that, The iPod sees the router, and automatically connects, you just have to open the program then hit the home button once it sees the network, and the iPod will connect just fine, until it looses the signal, then one must open the app again to connect.

I don't know what the app triggers for it to connect, but its a pain in the ass. ;)

The Copy/Paste function is definitely handy, not even for the copying/pasting, but just the ability to select a large paragraph (For example, when replying to an e-mail) then hit delete and POOF, The selection is cleared. I hated having to sit there with my finger on the delete key as it deleted word-by-word... Much quicker and more efficient.

I'm glad to see your post, as I have the exact same issue, post-3.0, and thought I was nuts. Only affects Exchange, and only affects 3G/Edge. WiFi VPN is fine. And in both cases I make the connection just fine, but cannot use any of the Exchange services, nor even just Safari-based web functions. Very, very weird. I've checked to see if they added network prefs, or maybe changed defaults, but I can't find anything obvious that could explain it. So it's not just you...!

You don't even need someone from AT&T to tell you that... Just look at what happened when the 3G was released. I'm extremely fortunate that my area has pretty good 3G coverage from AT&T and I've only had a dozen or so dropped calls since I got the 3G on release.

I'm pissed I can't upgrade to the 3Gs for it's subsidized price, but I won't blame AT&T for that. I am honoring my contract as originally agreed. Although, it would be nice to see AT&T so some appreciation to iPhone users like myself who have switched from other carriers and are with AT&T for the long run (as long as the service doesn't get worse!)

The iPhone 3GS launches in many foreign countries on the same day it does in the U.S. - Canada, Italy,the UK, plus other countries.

Those countries, together, are much much larger than the U.S. market with AT&T.

Therefore, it's in Apple's best interest to tout ALL the features, since many of the international carriers will carry it.

This made me curious to try with my JVC head unit (yeah I caved and acquired 3.0). Head unit could not read the touch at first. Unplugged and replugged several times and it seemed okay on each reconnect. With all the updates coming out it's getting capable of more and more and now I have Cut/Copy/Paste among many other really nice features. I am pretty pissed at AT&T for not allowing tethering or MMS as of right now but I can't pin that on Apple.

And something else you should realize is that the iPhone is NOT a Win Mo device. Your comparing Apples to Oranges... or Apples to Microsofts... :)

The way the iPhone works is completely different then any other smartphone and due to it nature adding in these somewhat common features takes time to perfect. This is Apple we're talking about. They won't release something unless it's absolutely up to their standards. From what I've seen so far with Cut/Copy/Paste and the other new features in iPhone 3.0 it's just what you'd expect from Apple... really really well done.

So on one hand you can scold them not hurrying up and including these basic features right off the bat, but on the other hand you need to remember who your talking about. Apple is so obsessed about attention to detail it's not even funny.

I've heard that one time Apple Engineers were arguing of which color a single pixel should have been on an OS X App!

Tried again, Same thing. So I tried the Holding sleep key and Home key, then releasing the sleep key after 10 seconds, for DFU mode... Same thing happened, 30 seconds after starting the restore, error 2002...

Tried again, turning iPod off, then starting up in DFU again, gave me another error, forget which one it was, so I instantly tried the Shift + Restore once more (without touching iPod) and it happily upgraded. (Finally, after 10-15 minutes of restarting and trying, about 4 or 5 upgrade attempts.)

After it finished I played around for about 10 seconds, definitely Version 3.0, now to wait about 2 hours for the damn thing to restore my 28GB of music and 1GB of apps. :( (I hope it doesn't do the same thing it did when I upgraded from 2.2 to 2.2.1... Restored, got to about 99% of the restore, then something went funky and I had to do a complete restore again, so it was like a 4 hour upgrade, heh..)

Can't wait to see which Apps are broke for now, and which ones still work, :)

Because AT&T isn't the only provider of the iPhone. There are other providers across the globe who will be supporting MMS and Tethering when 3.0/iPhone 3GS comes out.

Apple is appealing to ALL iPhone users, regardless of network.
