Going to the dark side

After around 7 years as a happy Speakeasy customer, I called today to cancel my service in favor of Comcast HSI. Just couldn't justify the price for the speed I was getting now that I've ditched my home server. I could have dropped to a cheaper, residential package but I'd still have been paying way too much for 1.5/384. Plus, I'd have had to drop the VoIP service anyway as that's only offered on OneLink.

It's a shame they don't offer their VoIP product as a general broadband service, a-la Vonage. I'd probably have kept that as it's price is pretty reasonable for what you get. I know they wouldn't be able to do QoS on infrastructure they don't own, but I'd have liked to have been given the option to try it anyway.

LAst i knew when i worked there (aprox 1 year ago) you could have thier voip even if you didnt have service thru them, the caveat was, as you said, lack of qos control.

This may have changed tho

I'll ask again before transitioning to another service. I really have liked the service and the pricing on the VoIP isn't so far out of wack when compared to Verizon or Comcast.
