| pausing every 5 minutes
I am having a problem with the U720, it seems to pause every 5 minutes, what I am saying is during a download, accessing website or playing a game, every 5 minutes give or take 30 seconds the modem will pause for about 30 seconds, and then resume again, sometimes it resumes the activity but most of the time the activity stops or disconnects. I have called tech support and they walked me through a reset, to no avail. they were suppose to call back in one hour but haven't, will call again tomorrow.
this is on a vista laptop with 4 gig ram. |

| it doesn't appear to, but the solution did work.
to explain the problem better, is the modem it self is not what is causing the pausing, it just appears that way as when hardwired to my home connection no pausing(comcast at 50/10) or when on dialup(earthlink at 28.8) only when on the sprint bb modem same symptoms no mater the location, so I had eliminated the hardware and network connection as the cause, started looking at network settings to see if anything jumpped out at me as being a problem, saw only one DNS server listed(from experience I know two should be listed for redundancy) I set them to 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 knowing these are faster than most ISP servers and viola problem solved.
I think the problem was an overloaded DNS server with no secondary server to relieve the load. |
