1 edit | 9600xt died on my casual machine... Bought a new video card
Okay, so I have this 2500+. I've been aware that the video card is dying for awhile, but I haven't really cared since all I use it for is business, casual crap (like bejeweled), etc.
And I have machines that are actual gaming. Hell I have 3 machines, one with a gtx 260, one with a x1900xt 512, and one laptop with a x1800.
So today I booted it up to find a ton of lines and dots, so obviously the video card has finally fried. So I went and got this off of newegg:

Now, I don't play any new 3d games on this machine, and I use a 1920x1200 dell. But I have had a few games I wanted to lan. The games are TF2, CSS, and DODS.
Will these games play on this new video card at 1920x1200?
The specs of the pc in question are:
Athlon Xp 3200+ 1.5 gigs of 3200 ddr1 ram (sadly clocked at 3 ms) |

| reply to Metatron2008 TF2 is CPU dependant, not GPU.
It should run somewhat, but you wont have all the bells and whistles going. Your kind of stuck like my system is.
I have a 4600+ x2 with 4 GB of DDR1 on Win XP 64 but my vid card is EVGA 8800GTS 512 with no overclock.
But if you have better machines to play games with, then can you put the newer card into them? Just my $.02 |

I still have mine but the fan no longer spins.. it must handle heat good because it has yet to lock up in any games but I will be replacing it sometimes next month along with building a new PC with maybe a core i7. |

| It died the same way alot of other video cards do for me... I start noticing a few crashes, card works bad, then I get a bunch of dots and lines and it won't boot up again.
The thing was already dying, it's not a big surprise.
Oh btw everything, TF2 runs on the 3650 at 1920x1200, medium settings |
