| dl speed drops quickly Hi,
I have Verizon Fios 20/5. When I first turn on my laptop I run a speed test from speakeasy.net and get a dl speed of around 17megs. If I goto youtube, the video starts out fine, but becomes choppy after a minute. I then run the speed test and get 3megs dl.
Anyone have any thoughts on what is going on?
I have run many hardware diagnostics test and everything looks good. This happens if I am directly connected to my router or using the wireless.

Set Tcp Receive Window to 256960
Set Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.
Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank
Save/Exit DrTcp
Reboot
Rerun the Tweak Test
Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs
Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512
Note your transfer rate after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.
Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test.

• It does not matter that much since this is not a tweaking issue.
• Can you connect the box directly to the MODEM and test from there?
• Has this issue been there from day one or did it just start?
• Are you running any SW firewall?

| Re: dl speed drops quickly • I have/am using Spybot without any issue. Did you immunize? Try booting when it is disabled and see if that does anything. Remember to disable Tea Timer as this is part of Spybot.
• Can you please retweak with the settings above?
• Are your NIC properties set to auto or 100/Full?
