Re: Motorola SB6120 -- Frequent modem lock-ups

Thanks for your diagnostics!

I've swapped it out for a SB5101 that has been stable for over 24 hours now.

I bought it from Frys on June 11th.
The modem isn't recognizing the Config file that is being pushed. Call Astound and ask them if this modem is supported by them with a corrected Config file specifically for an SB6120.

I recall reading in another forum that there were various problems with earlier firmware for this modem. Has your ISP sent out updated firmware?

Note that you cannot update the modem's firmware- only your ISP can do it.

Is this modem leased from Astound or do you own it?

Hello Motorola forum,

I have a Motorola SB6120 attached to Astound cable. When the unit is up, it works great. Speeds are decent and reliable. However, the unit seems to lock up about every 12-24 hours or so. When it locks up, I'm unable to ping its management IP address of 192.168.100.1. Power cycling the modem seems to be the only way to get it up again.

The modem is running as follows:

Here is the contents of the log since it was purchased a few days ago:

The downstream signal:

The upstream signal:

And signal status:

Is there anything obviously wrong here?
