Re: FSN-Pittsburgh in Harrisburg PA??

So do both the SD and HD channels always show the same thing? I know Versus sometimes shows different programs.

While not a Pirates fan, I wanted to see a little bit of the game just to see the new channel. With a rain delay nixing those plans I was treated to "Team Of Destiny: The 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates." Good show.

I didn't hear anything about getting FSN pitt in mechanicsburg and was very surprised to see the Pirates on last night and what a way to start the new channel down in the mid state by beating the brew crew.

Someone else on here posted that Mechanicsburg doesn't get CSN-Philly (I don't have FiOS TV yet). If you go to the website and look at the channel lineup for HD Extreme, it isn't listed either. Only under "All Channels" is it listed. Unfortunately, it doesn't say how to add it.

Note that I'm looking at Hampden Township, zip code 17050.

Thanks for the updates!

Any more info on this? Is it showing up in the guide now? Can Mechanicsburg get this (since it appears they can't get CSN-Philly)?

Seriously thinking about adding TV from D*. Would love to hear it's all working.
It is showing up in the guide now! Complete with the "FSN" logo on channel 78 and the "FSN HD" logo on channel 578. Guide listings are there as well.

Also, I'm not sure where you are getting Mechanicsburg not having CSN-Philly. My dad gets CSN-Philly on 76 and 576 just fine, and he lives in Mechanicsburg (I live in Shiremanstown).

It's all working good. Continuing to love my FiOS.

yes it did!

I checked it shortly after midnight and it was there.

This may have changed from last night but it didn't show up in the guide yet (entering 78 on your remote would get you there) and there was no guide data yet, but it definitely is FSP.

I lean more towards the Philly teams but I am very happy for all the Pittsburgh sports fans that now there is ANOTHER option for them to get their channel since Comcrap doesn't seem interested in it.

I've been (desperately) waiting for this to happen; once it finally does, it will be very hard for me NOT to ditch DirecTV. I have a few Mechanicsburg - specific questions:

1) What is this about no CSN Philly in Mechanicsburg (see Hosehead's post)? I live in Mechanicsburg (Hampden Township) and according to the online lineup, it is included. Is it really missing?

2) I've seen mixed messages about the 30 second skip. Does it work on the West Shore? Would I need to add a custom remote?

Thanks in advance!

Erik

I just thought that Frontier might want to please their future new customers. And the former VZ customers will be unique in that all other Frontier 'video customers' are fed via Dish Network. VZ does respond to customer requests if they are frequent and consistent. Not sure if Frontier is the same but it can't hurt to ask? I hate to see the three VHO's go considering what VZ invested in them but this is Ivan's deal and it's not a matter of if but a matter of when this will happen...

Also my bad, it's not that Hallmark HD is being adding, it's Hallmark SD being moved

BTW, I've never once implied that the sale won't go through. What I was trying to say is that Frontier won't be talking about what they will or won't be offering until it does (and even then... ) so telling current VZ customers to call Frontier NOW is not very good advice. We aren't yet Frontier customers.

(We did get the Viacom channels two weeks ago today, though... one of the first markets to do so...)

The preliminary plan is to have the VZ National Headends continue to feed the Frontier VHO's after the transfer date but the transition team is pouring through the details.
That's what I expected, but I think it's premature to release that info.

The transfer date has been set to 3/31/10 and while it's not final I doubt if anything will derail this transfer. By new channel adds I meant anything not already in the works. The preliminary plan is to have the VZ National Headends continue to feed the Frontier VHO's after the transfer date but the transition team is pouring through the details. The sale of Hawaaii and New England assets went through as planned and there is no reason to believe this won't happen. The sale inlcudes the three VHO's (Ft. Wayne, Portland and Seattle)and the video customers as well...

Pending the transfer of assets from VZ to Frontier I do not forsee any new channel adds (or other changes) to the Ft. Wayne VHO, sorry but it wouldn't make sense for VZ to spend money in a VHO that's already been sold. [...] You may want to direct your requests/inquiries to Frontier?
First of all, the sale is not complete or in any way final. Frontier will not be making any comments about the future of FiOS Internet/TV until such time that the sale has been approved by all those involved (shareholders, regulatory bodies, etc).

Second of all, we're scheduled to get Hallmark HD in the OR VHO around August 3rd. Now perhaps you meant local channels and that may be but remember, Verizon DOES have to keep whatever franchise agreements it made for duration.

That's premature. I don't think Fairpoint changed the FIOS in their areas. There was no TV in NE. There's just no way to judge how Frontier will handle the FIOS areas yet.

from a local paper here in Ft. Wayne:

The sale includes Verizon's 718,000 Indiana phone lines. But customers should not notice a change beyond the name on the bill, said Steven Crosby, senior vice president for Frontier Communications. Although Frontier does not have experience offering its own television product, the company plans to continue offering Verizon's fiber-optic TV service, FiOS.

Am I wrong?

I had heard it was not supposed to affect FiOS.
You're wrong. Look at the Fairpoint deal. This will take a year to close and Frontier can't act like it's a done deal till then.
