Another thing also is when you move from an C.O. to an R.T. connection it takes as least 24-48 hours to see the first sync numbers stored, and be able to access the port stats directly.

I told him in about 2 weeks he shouldn't have any problems ordering, and will probably be able to do it online.

The information in their internal database which tells them what speeds you have available to your home can often take several days to be updated after a change.

When David See Profile took a look at my line numbers and said I was good enough for Elite, it took a few days between him making the change in their systems and it actually being available.

If you're connected to a router then you can connect directly to the modem for a couple of minutes to pull those line stats and post them here. Alternatively, if you aren't comfortable doing that you can post in Direct and have David or one of the other wizards see what speeds your line can now support (hopefully Elite) and they can make the arrangements for it to actually become available to you.

You are correct having a router between the computer and the modem can prevent you from accessing that information

If you still have the motorola modem look at line 144 on the technicians readout page that line will show what your loop will support

OK. They came today and provisioned me from the RT rather than the CO.

As soon as they reconnected, my speed test went from .6MB down to 1.3Mb down.

Called AT&T to upgrade to a 3.0 account AND.... they say it's not available on my account. Hoping this is due to the sytem needing to catch up to the shorter distance/performance.

FWIW:
Had an AT&T tech come out and check my line today, install a new splitter and NID. He told me at the door that my service would never be any faster. After talking a few minutes he told me i had to request to be moved to the RT that is 1000 ft down the street from me rather than the CO. I thought i'd already done that and been moved, but apparently not. So, theoretically, in 10 days or less, i will be provisioned out of the close RT.

They probably upgraded your field wiring to a new location. That's probably why.

Checked his line, he's just about out of range for DSL. He does have uverse internet available to him though.

So I would go for the uverse internet.

Post your issue over in the AT&T Direct forum and have one of the techs look at it. Please read the Posting Rules, and don't reply to your own post until a certified technician answers you.

I just replaced my speedstream 4100 with a Motorola modem from AT&T store due to slowing download speeds. Got my speeds up from 300k/300k to 780k/300k on the 1.5mb plan. Was on chat with AT&T for an hour, they agreed to create a trouble ticket, then said a software glitch prevented them from creating . They also said the line was capped, but couldn't say why and couldn't do anything about it. .

Suggestions?
