Opinion on laptop I want to purchase

I am looking at this laptop to repace one for my wife that just crapped out (an HP dual core less than 2 years old)
It is basically going to sit on the kitchen table where she uses it or email and browsing.
I wanted to get a laptop with winXP. I heard that lenovo service is pretty sharp. Any opinions on the laptop or any experience with lenovo tech support or service:

That will do fine, very nice for the price, but for email/browsing at the kitchen table, even a $550 lappy is a bit more than what's needed. For an email/browser, $400 will get you all that you need. For the stated usage, the OS is pretty much irrelavant, any old OS will browse the net much the same.

Have you considered a netbook? For simple browing and email functions they're hard to beat, and convenient as well.

Trot on down to your neighborhood Best Buy and show her an HP Mini. The ladies all love mine and BB is currently running a $329 sale price. You will be her hero.

Thanks for your suggestions. I know she would prefer a larger keyboard than on a netbook, so that is out for her.
Dell is lowballing their laptops at $449 right now. It is tempting...

Hi,

Another option is to get an older T series IBM Thinkpad. They may be older but they can stand up to most of todays laptops.

I boughr my first from nagetech here in the forsale forum a T41. You will love the no flex keyboards and solid feel to these thin laptops. I just bought a second one from him a T43.

I am slowly getting rid of my destops. I will keep one for a server. Then everything will be wireless on my A/B network.

I paid less than what a netbook would cost. You might want to check with nagetech as he gets the Tseries laptops quite often...:D

Just my two cents.
