| Stretch non HD image?
Hey guys:
Thanks for solving my previous question with the audio problem, works like a champ now. Now another little snag. I have a Toshiba 37" RV530U TV, and unfortunately it doesn't automatically stretch non HD images to fill the whole screen.
I see that there is a stretch option in the STB (SA flavor) menu, but that does some weird stretching when viewing HD channels (some of the picture isn't visible...) Is there some setting in between that only stretches non HD channels?
Supposedly, the Toshiba will auto stretch images only if it comes in over Coax --- but I've got the thing connected via colorstream cables...
Thanks!

| reply to Cpudan80 To add if you have a SA 8300HD or SA 8300HDC STB have you run the setup wizard in Advanced mode? You can select which resolutions your TV supports so that SD (ie. non-HD channels) will fill the screen if you configure for 480p/480i. See page 12 of this guide.

Personally I use the method dvd536 suggested because I have my SA 8300HDC STB setup for a fixed 1080i display. -- "When all else fails, read the instructions..." MS-MVP Windows Desktop User Experience |

| reply to Cpudan80 What I hate is when some channels broadcast SD content in stretch'o'vision because it causes letter-boxed SD content to be stretched horizontally also. If it wasn't stretched, then I could just hit HD Zoom twice to make it fill the entire screen without loosing any picture.
I do run my box at fixed 1080i as well. |

| reply to Cpudan80 You can do it better than using the zoom button. You can go to the settings button on your remote and then go to more settings and scroll down to the video settings. The cox dvr box has a setting called 1080i 4:3 stretch. It will stretch the 4:3 channels so that its full screen. It looks better than the cable box zoom and hdtv zoom that you have. If you have a 720p set make sure to pick the 720p with 4:3 stretch option. Your 720p set will look better . Id put your 1080p set on to 1080i 4:3 stretch. I just wanted to add that. |

Do you have a Motorola STB? The Scientific Atlanta [SA] STBs don't have that. The OP has a SA STB. -- "When all else fails, read the instructions..." MS-MVP Windows Desktop User Experience |
