Any way to record a call?

I know this has been requested for a long time but is there any way to record a call? I've started receiving harassing phone calls from a collections agency for something that doesn't exist and I'd like to record them.

Or can I at least record if I call them?

Should be pretty simple that if I press a certain button on the phone, it can interrupt the conversation with a recording that says "This call is now being recorded" and then go on from there.

Thanks.

You can record outgoing calls (not incoming though). Once the call is connected, it doesn't go through viatalk's servers anymore, so they can't record incoming calls.

Just press *99 followed by the 11 digit number (don't wait for the dialtone in between). It'll then show up in your voicemail inbox I think.

As Nate425 explained, if you take advantage of our *99 Call Record feature you can record the entire call from the beginning.

While we do not support call recording mid-call, there are SoftPhones available that allow you to record the call at any point during the conversation and save the recording directly to your computer.

X-Lite is a free download and can be found at »www.counterpath.net/ Detailed installation instructions are available in our FAQ.

Would a soft phone let me pick up a call in progress that I'm talking to on my regular phone or would I have to have answered the phone with the soft phone program?

The reason I ask is I don't normally ever plan on needing to record a call to know to use *99 or the Soft Phone but once I'm in the middle of a call the need might arise.

The call would need to be answered on the SoftPhone to have the ability to start recording mid-call. The actual recording, in that case, is handled by the software and not our servers.

So I tried this feature on my account the other day and everything worked as planned. Only problem is that I cannot delete the message now and it always shows as a new voicemail message. Any help?

Its an ongoing problem. I have used it twice this year both times got the same thing. Everything worked but each time got 2 messages dumped on voicemail box both 0 length 1 was the recording one was blank. Recorded message would delete ok blank I had submit trouble tickets on. First one was on Jan 22 second on May 8th.

They don't seem to want to address the problem just clear the bad message and go on.
