Drilled into my Acura for a great antenna (worth it, by the way even if it brought the resale value down a bit unless I sell it to a ham). Sometimes it hits stuff. Once I even hit a power line repair unit that was working when I drove under it. Kept driving, though. Only saw a few sparks. Overall, definitely worth the effort to add another antenna and unit to the car. You can never have too many!

I did meet a wacker a while back who glued fake antennas to his car to give the impression that he was super wired. So far it has held up admirably. Branches and drive thrus seem to be the biggest culprits.

I keep meaning to take it off the roof and get a different bracket fabricated because taking it off the roof of my Jeep every day is a pain, bigger than easing under something short and just 'rubbing' a little.

I guess that will happen one day when it finally breaks...
