d_l : You might be able to reset the modem with a BAT file. You would have to be able to send the reset button command to the modem. For example, the page link to the reset button is: »192.168.0.1/reset_device.htm , but that won't reset the modem until the reset button is pushed. I haven't looked at the components of that page enough to see if there is a simple link that will reset the modem.

If there isn't, I'll bet that a BAT file call to run cURL that then issues a reset command would work. »curl.haxx.se/

lev : I'd probably dig up my old X-10 computer interface and a X-10 appliance control module, and just have the computer turn the modem off, wait a couple of minutes, then turn the modem back on, to make sure I didn't get the same IP address.

I have to ask... WHY are you looking to be able to change the modem's IP address so often that you'd want to set up an automated task to do so?

john909228 : Sorry for taking so long to reply, and thank you for your reply, I have been away. I am wanting to get a new Public IP address and I know that by restarting the modem, either by powering the unit down or by using the GUI interface and pressing the Disconnect and then the Restart Button a new Public IP address is assigned. I am open to other ways of accomplishing this, I just need it to be in a .bat file, so any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you once again for you time and any further help or suggestions

d_l : The two main requirements to get access to the CLI are a hard reset or a GUI reset (not a restart) of the modem without passing any ATM traffic afterwards AND a direct connection to the modem.

What do you intend for the modem restart to accomplish? There might be a different way to do what you want.

john909228 : Hello

I am trying to come up with a way to restart my AT&T version Speedstream 4100 modem through a .bat file. I have attempted to use CLI through telnet using the SpeedStream5200FTP.exe method (as found at '»broadbandreports.net/faq/sbc/3.1···00#15732') and have not been able to get the command line prompt (xsh>). I have installed the WinPcap and VB requirements. I am not sure how to proceed or if there may be an easier method to what I am trying to do. I realize more information may be needed and I will be happy to provide what ever anyone may need to help me.

Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions you may be able to provide
