I usually access it by right clicking desktop computer icon and choosing manage. |

 | reply to johnbor the problem lies with what programs are set to startup upon boot. removing those will significantly increase boot up. Open the start menu and type msconfig open it and click the startup tab and you an see all the things which are set to start. |

Without insulting your intelligence - are you sure it has enough RAM? I have to ask - It is a memory hog. |

You might also want to shut down some items that call home in the Sidebar, if you're running it.
I've found that sometimes if I shut down a lot of internet-connected programs quickly and then shut down the computer, it will take a while to close or will even hang. I think Vista gets confused - lol. -- Patriotism is not waving a flag, it is living the ideals

BitPremium join:2009-02-19 00000 | reply to johnbor I have the same problem with my new Dell notebook. In the OEM configuration it would take up to 4 minutes (yes, four) to fully boot. I had to uninstall a ton of stuff to get it to a usable state. Shutdowns were brutal too. Windows 7 RC was a better but it was still unacceptable. -- POKE 65495,1 |
