join:2004-03-30 Burton, OH | [Vista] Vista SLOW SHUTdown and restart? Have a new Lenovo laptop with vista, the damn thing is so slow to shutdown and takes time to even restart. From what I hear this is a vista thing. Any work arounds to fix this? | |

I usually access it by right clicking desktop computer icon and choosing manage. | |

join:2009-05-14 Fort Wayne, IN | the problem lies with what programs are set to startup upon boot. removing those will significantly increase boot up. Open the start menu and type msconfig open it and click the startup tab and you an see all the things which are set to start. | |

You might also want to shut down some items that call home in the Sidebar, if you're running it.
I've found that sometimes if I shut down a lot of internet-connected programs quickly and then shut down the computer, it will take a while to close or will even hang. I think Vista gets confused - lol. -- Patriotism is not waving a flag, it is living the ideals
