| reply to johnbor Re: [Vista] Vista SLOW SHUTdown and restart?
I have the same problem with my new Dell notebook. In the OEM configuration it would take up to 4 minutes (yes, four) to fully boot. I had to uninstall a ton of stuff to get it to a usable state. Shutdowns were brutal too. Windows 7 RC was a better but it was still unacceptable. -- POKE 65495,1 |

| reply to johnbor Check your security programs to see if any are performing any extra start-up or shut-down scans.
You might also want to shut down some items that call home in the Sidebar, if you're running it.
I've found that sometimes if I shut down a lot of internet-connected programs quickly and then shut down the computer, it will take a while to close or will even hang. I think Vista gets confused - lol. -- Patriotism is not waving a flag, it is living the ideals

Without insulting your intelligence - are you sure it has enough RAM? I have to ask - It is a memory hog. |

I usually access it by right clicking desktop computer icon and choosing manage. |
