In the OEM configuration it would take up to 4 minutes (yes, four) to fully boot. I had to uninstall a ton of stuff to get it to a usable state. Shutdowns were brutal too. Windows 7 RC was a better but it was still unacceptable.

You might also want to shut down some items that call home in the Sidebar, if you're running it.

I've found that sometimes if I shut down a lot of internet-connected programs quickly and then shut down the computer, it will take a while to close or will even hang. I think Vista gets confused - lol.
