 | Anonamous postings Seems like there is a new policy where anon posts have to get reviewed before being posted. I'm curious as to the motivation behind this. I like to post anon b/c I like my privacy and don't want to bother registering or, even worse, submit the username/password in cleartext. Call me a security freak, I don't care but I just can't bring myself to submit logon credentials over a non-SSL connection. Just thought I'd bring up the topic and see what other's thoughts were. |

| We've been pestered by spam bots for ages but they've grown more sophisticated recently. I've also put in an anon post manual pre-filter that is fairly quick to use so if there is a single mod around they can deal with any pending anon posts, site-wide, within seconds. Delays on anon posts appearing are v short, apart from this one where you posted in the wrong forum and it got moved around.
I think you'll find there are very very few busy communities on the net that allow fully anonymous postings unless they also have a system where the community suppresses those that they don't like (a system that I think leads to group-think).
Second, you don't have to login using clear text, there is a form from the "secure login" link that submits to https rather than http. -- erertert |

Would be nice to allow trusted IPs to post anonymously without delay, but like Justin says it is fairly quick so far to get reviewed.

you should be lucky you can even post on here, most forms require registration prior to posting. this should too. would save justin some time reviewing posts for approval.

 | reply to Pseudonimity A site search shows the last anon post made by a "Pseudonimity" at 2009-07-11 07:19:12. Apparently, somebody registered "Pseudonimity" at 2009-07-11 10:27:58 and never saw the need to log in again?

Re: Anonamous postings I want to take that a step further and disallow ALL non registered users. I wasted too many hours reading stuff and then it ended up being a troll.. |
