| Line Lock Release When I first moved into my house (in Houston) my options for internet were Comcast, AT&T DSL, and SpeakEasy. I have a hatred for Comcast that goes back to my University days in Boston, so they were a non-starter. I had initially wanted to get AT&T DSL because it was available at an attractive price point. However, their equipment had no free ports to service me at the time. SpeakEasy came to my rescue, and I have loved the service even if it is a bit on the pricey side for what I get. AT&T has just rolled out U-Verse in my neighborhood and I am looking to switch for a number of reasons (unified billing, a bit cheaper, and a few others). I had to cancel my DSL through SpeakEasy to be able to get the process going. This has left me in a lurch with no internet for a week now. AT&T is claiming that SpeakEasy still has not released the line lock. I was wondering if anybody has similar experience with SpeakEasy and can comment on how long it took them to release the lock. I know they are allowed to take up to 2 weeks. I am hoping that it typically takes a much shorter time as it has meant I can't work from home for the last week, and won't be able to until the U-Verse install is complete. Thanks in advance. |
