Re: 1.5 MB to 3.0 MB upgrade went pretty good except .. FWIW, I just went to a clients home last Friday where they were getting a new install for AT&T DSL using a customer provided used DSL modem.
Well the client had spent hours on the phone with Tier 1 support without a resolution. The first thing I did with the modem was to check VCI and VPI settings. It was 8/35. Changed it to 0/35 and all was well.
Support at both EarthLink and AT&T should be on top of this, but apparently they are not.
