Where does Vista 64 keep installed drivers?

I'm trying to share a printer from an XP machine to a Vista 64 Machine. This printer was connected to the vista machine VIA USB, so the drivers are installed, but when I try to connect to it across the network it says that it can't find the correct driver. Where would the driver be, from when the printer was connected USB?

You need to download the XP specific drivers for your XP system. I think you can install them on the Vista system under 'additional drivers' in the printer properties, or just install them on the XP system and map the printer.

I'm sorry, I didn't explain very well. The printer is currently connected to the XP machine. I'm trying to access it from the Vista Machine. The drivers are already installed, because it was connected to the Vista machine. I just need to point it to the drivers when it asks. I just don't know where the drivers would be located on the Vista machine.

Make sure the printer can print from the XP PC it is attached to. Then in the Vista networked PC:
Go to Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, printer, then click Add a Printer.

Select Add a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the
drop down box is Local Port and should not be changed. Click Next.

A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the
\\computer name\printer name ie. if the computer's name is Bart and the
printer name is HP8000 type in \\Bart\HP8000

It won't accept backslashes. Is it okay to use forward slashes?

No, you are mapping the XP computer with the printer from the Vista PC. What error message are you seeing when you click 'OK"?

It should accept this. I've attached jpegs of a VistaSP2 x64 I just setup to a HP5550 printer on a XPSP3 networked PC (named 'Office') and printed OK.
